Principal Partner Douglas Courtney, PE
Mr. Courtney was born and raised in the city of Richmond Heights on Cleveland’s east side and has spent his entire professional career in Northeast Ohio. Doug graduated from The University of Akron in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a State of Ohio Registered Professional Engineer. Doug’s experience in the Civil Engineering and Land Surveying industry began in 1985 as a teenager, when he began working for the family business, The C.W. Courtney Company, as a rod man on a field survey crew. Doug is also a principal partner of The C.W. Courtney Company and has served as the Municipal Engineer for the cities of Chardon and Brooklyn, Ohio since 1998.
Doug’s professional experience since graduation for The University of Akron includes supervising and completing projects related to: Highway and Transportation Improvements, Storm and Sanitary Sewer Improvements, Land Planning, Land Development, Storm Water Management, Construction Project Management, Special Assessments, Pavement Inventory and Condition Analysis, Parks and Recreational Facilities, Capital Improvement Programming, Feasibility Studies, Right-of-way Studies, Easement Preparation, Utility Relocation Plans, Boundary and Topographic Surveys, Subdivision Platting and Improvement Plans, Construction Staking, and Construction Observation.
Doug and his wife Kellie are raising their family in Chardon, Ohio and are active in their community.
Principal Partner Christopher Courtney, PE, PS, CPESC, CPSWQ
Mr. Courtney is a Principal of the firm, holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron, and is a Registered Professional Engineer and Surveyor in the State of Ohio. Mr. Courtney is also a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control and a Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality. Additionally, he attends numerous seminars on topics related to Pavement Construction and Maintenance, Infrastructure Management, Environmental Engineering, Storm water Management, Risk Management, Property Line Dispute Resolution, Planning and Zoning, and other relevant Municipal Engineering and Design oriented topics.
Christopher has twenty five of experience in projects related to: Highway and Transportation Improvements, Land Planning, Land Development, Water Pollution Control, Storm water Management, Construction Project Management, Special Assessments, Pavement Inventory and Condition Analysis, Parks and Recreational Facilities, Capital Improvement Programming, Feasibility Studies, Right-of-way Studies, Easement Preparation, Utility Relocation Plans, Boundary and Topographic Surveys, Subdivision Platting and Improvement Plans, Construction Staking, and Construction Observation.
Mr. Courtney, who started working on a land survey crew at the age of 15, has had the benefit of performing the duties associated with every position within the Surveying and Engineering Departments within the company and relies heavily upon that experience during the day-to-day management of projects and personnel.
Mr. Courtney is a past president, and current Vice President, of the Municipal Engineers Association of Northeast Ohio (MEANEO), an organization primarily comprised of consulting municipal Civil Engineers, Manufacturers, and Suppliers operating within the northern Ohio area. The purpose of the organization is to promote uniformity of municipal ordinances and regulations related to design and construction and promote the professional status and public image of the Municipal Engineer in Northeast Ohio. He is also a member of the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio (PLSO), the International Erosion Control Association (IECA), and a member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).
